There are a variety of different brands and uses of sample pans on the market today, and the choice of sample tray is critical when analyzing different materials and performing different tests.
Sample pans are available in aluminum, copper, platinum, and alumina, and are suitable for instrument brands such as American PE, American TA (formerly Dupont), German NETZSCH, Swiss METTLER, Japanese SHIMADZU, Japanese SEIKO, and French SETARAM.
The specific specifications of the DSC crucibles vary by brand and instrument manufacturer.
DSC crucibles’ classification.
To ensure efficient heat exchange between the sample and the sensor, use a high-quality, temperature-appropriate sample dish/crucible.
- quartz sample tray/crucible for the temperature range from room temperature to 1000℃.
- High-purity alumina, platinum thermal analysis crucible can be used up to 1750°C.
- Graphite and tungsten thermal analysis crucible with a limiting operating temperature of 2400℃.
Key features.
To avoid reactions between the sample crucible and the sample, an inert sample pans can be used.
Quartz sample trays/crucibles are commonly used for adsorption analysis due to their chemical stability and ease of cleaning.
High-pressure DSC analysis pan: The entire experiment is conducted in a hermetically sealed sample dish/crucible to suppress the evaporation of volatile substances; the hermetic seal prevents the solvent from evaporating or contains the volatile reaction products, thus eliminating the interference of the heat of vaporization.
Aluminum sample pans and lids: for non-volatile solid samples, such as polymers and pharmaceuticals, commonly used for the study of polymer melting, crystallization, and glass transition of polymers, thermoplastics, and thermosets; the sample dishes are bayoneted but not sealed.
High-quality thermal analyzer crucibles can be used to extend the application of DSC, larger analysis pan can be used to place more sample into the tray to measure weak thermal effects, and lightweight, thermally conductive sample trays/crucibles can be used for good resolution.
